Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a restful, happy weekend and are off to a strong start this week. I’m pumped to share the bright, sunny Atlanta home of my dear friend and fellow wine lover Jenn Geitzen. Jenn is a Jane of all Trades: from lettering and illustration, to public speaking and branding consultation, she can truly do it all – with both grit and grace. Jenn has an infectious laugh and ability to
We welcomed her as a speaker at Gather Workshop last year and are so glad to have her as part of the family. She shared her journey as a creative entrepreneur openly and honestly with other women and genuinely cares for the success of fellow artists. Keep reading to find out Jenn’s favorite way to relax at home and her open door policy for wine nights and dance parties. Yes, please!
Tell us a little about yourself: Hi! Jenn here. :) I rest my head in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood in Atlanta. (I’m a little biased to my side of town. The sweetest little houses live there with the prettiest trees. It being spring, our sidewalks look like they just had a confetti party, and I don’t hate it.) My roommates have been so sweet to let me turn our little sunroom into an office where I get to paint pretty letters all day and do the occasional design project. (I go back and forth between calling myself an artist or a designer). Some of my favorite hobbies include living room dance parties, margarita sippin’ on a patio somewhere and hugging on my favorites (which is basically everyone).
How long have you lived in your current home? We moved in October 2015.
Describe your style in 3 words: Eek! Colorful, Sassy and Vulnerable.
What is your favorite room/space in your home? Why? Since we moved in, my favorite room/space in our home has been the living room. With all the eclectic pieces and the colors, I feel most “at home” when I’m hanging in there. But recently, Maggie has put her decor skills on our back porch and it has slowly become a neck and neck game between the two spaces. Between the plants, the twinkly lights and the weather, who wouldn’t want to be out there??
What is your most cherished piece? Does it have a story? This is hard because a lot of the furniture in the house isn’t mine. I’ve always been a hand-me-down hodge podge type of girl, so I’m lucky to live with friends who can fill the space with a lot of lovely pieces. However, my most cherished piece is honestly probably my mattress. My bed is kiiiiind of the best. I splurged on it a few years ago and it was the best purchase I’ve ever made.
What is the one thing that makes your space feel like home? The people, most definitely. We have an open door policy at our house so when I come home, you never know who’s going to be there when I walk in. I love that our friends can come to our home as sort of a “get-a-way” and it can feel like their home too.
What is your favorite way to relax at home? WINE! If you’ve seen my instagram at all, you know I’m a little obsessed. We constantly have wine or champagne at our house which leads to the friends, and the girls’ nights, and the living room dance parties.
House Plants or Fresh Flowers? This is hard! I can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s flowers. But, my roommate Maggie LOVES plants and it’s teaching me that plants can really open up a space.
Driveway or Sidewalk? I’m gonna go with driveway because ours is big and we’re currently planning a “driveway party”. ha!
Tidy or “Lived In”? Lived in! Most definitely!
Breakfast Bar or Kitchen Table? Prob kitchen table. It makes it easier to play a card game.
Modern or Traditional? Can I say both?
Bed Made or Unmade? Ha! Depends on the day and how clean my room is.
TV or Radio? Oooo, hard one. I do love my Bachelor reruns, but music makes it easier to hang with friends. :)
Front Porch or Back Deck? Back deck.
FRIENDS character you’re most like: You know, I’ve taken this quiz before on Buzzfeed and get someone different every time. But to me, I’m kind of quirky so I’d probably go with Pheobe.
