This #feelslikehome train keeps rolling and today I’m stopping at my best girl’s Athens home. Kaitie is my spirit animal in more ways than one and on the home decor front, we are one. Clean lines, white space, house plants, and as much window light as possible. Her space is one of my favorite places to call home for a few days whenever I’m in Athens. Take a peek!
Tell us a little about yourself: I’m a photographer, shooting weddings for the past 6 years along with fine art photography (available through Minted, West Elm, Citizen Supply, and BMA at Home). My husband, Jared, and I have lived in Athens for 16 years (whoa!) ever since meeting at the University of Georgia in 2000. We love Athens and are so grateful to live in such a unique town. I have two boys, Ethan and Andy, and our 7 year old dog, Roxie. I love to dream up ideas and projects and inventions, even though most of them are pretty short-lived. I also really love taking naps and roller skating to fun 90s music.

Describe your style in 3 words: Simple, Clean, Modern
What is your favorite room/space in your home? Why? Our sunroom overlooking our backyard! I love all the light that streams in, and opening the glass doors to hear the water flowing down the rocks of our creek in the backyard. I love that is has a heating and air unit that makes it a haven year-round for us, and is like a greenhouse for our plants.
What is your most cherished piece? Does it have a story? My most cherished piece is my Britt Bass painting “Peach Drippy”. It means a lot to me on so many levels. We found our current home but couldn’t buy it until we sold our other home, and in the meantime I just daydreamed about how I wanted to decorate it. I knew I wanted this specific painting from Britt but didn’t have a place for it in our other home, but I knew exactly where it would it go if we got to move. I told Britt that it would be the “crown jewel” of our new home, and for the longest time it was the only thing on the walls. It began a new process for me of finding art that I loved made by talented artists that I really supported, believed in, and had a personal connection with. It also represents a love for art that has really grown in me, helping me branch out and use my camera to interpret and create beauty.
What is the one thing that makes your space feel like home? My space feels like a home when we have significant and meaningful wall art. Pictures of my kids, quotes that really resonate with me, art from friends, and photos from places we have loved mean so much to me.
What is your favorite way to relax at home? Drinking coffee and listen to the water running down the rocks in the creek while sitting in the sunroom is my favorite way to relax. I also treasure some peace and quiet which is rare in a home with energetic boys!
