Today’s #feelslikehome is with the queen of clean design. My friend Jamie Wilson of Krywicki Design is an incredibly talented interior designer and her home is nothing short of total eye candy. Even still, Jamie infuses strong design with an element of ease and comfort that makes her space perfect for puppy snuggles and a good FRIENDS binge.
Tell us a little about yourself: I’m originally a Yankee, born and raised in Pennsylvania, who came to the South in 2007 for college and never went back. I met my husband while at Auburn University, whose job brought us to Atlanta after we graduated. We put roots down in Marietta close to the square and have been there ever since. I have my own Interior Design business and work full time for a firm in Buckhead, so I’m one busy lady juggling lots of projects, but I love it so I can’t complain for a second. My family traveled a lot when I was growing up so I have a huge travel bug that I’ve given to my husband over the course of our relationship (8years!). If we’re not working we’re traveling, visiting a new restaurant or outside hiking up a mountain or something.
How long have you lived in your current home? We’ll be in our house three years this August.
Who lives there with you? My husband Nick and our two goldendoodle pups, Izzie and Fritz
Describe your style in 3 words: Classic, modern, and comfortable
What is your favorite room/space in your home? Why? I’m constantly changing the rooms in my house, I guess it’s the curse of being a designer. I would say right now, it’s a toss-up between my office and the guest bedroom, since I just got finished sprucing them up. However, I have a feeling it’s going to be my dining room or living room since we’re re-doing them right now.
What is your most cherished piece? Does it have a story? I think our house in itself is the most cherish thing we have. It has such sentimental meaning to us. It’s our first house together, we’ve literally done all the upgrades and changes in it together (without a divorce, a true testimony of our love haha), which come with so many memories, funny stories, and experiences.
What is the one thing that makes your space feel like home? Our book collection or I should say Nick’s book collection. He’s a stickler for reading actual books, none of that digital stuff and I’m a firm believer in using collections or items clients purchase on adventures or collect overtime to help their space truly be their space, not just a pretty picture out of a magazine. They give our home soul and he or I have read every single one so it’s kind of our trophy case. We’re 27 going on 40 I’m pretty sure of it.
What is your favorite way to relax at home? I’m not much of a relaxer, but when I do it’s usually curled up on the couch with laptop in hand.
House Plants or Fresh Flowers? I have house plants around all the time or at least try to when I’m not killing them (my mom would be so disappointed), but I LOVE fresh flowers. They add the perfect pop of color and there is usually a reason behind them when they’re in the house; Anniversary, Birthday, Just Because.
Driveway or Sidewalk? Driveway, even if it’s a tiny one. I’m not one for parallel parking.
Tidy or “Lived In”? Tidy, though when our house is tidy, it still feels lived in. I can’t get anything done when there’s a mess around me, but with two dogs and a husband your house can only be so tidy.
Breakfast Bar or Kitchen Table? Sofa, I had to admit it…but kitchen table whenever we decide to have kids ☺
Modern or Traditional? Staying true to my design style I’m in the middle. I like mixing traditional architecture with modern furniture or visa versa, so I’m going to teeter in the middle on this one.
Bed Made or Unmade? I want to say made because it’s so much better to get into at night, but let’s be real, unmade! If the bed is made it usually means we’re having company over or one of us is in ultimate cleaning mode.
TV or Radio? TV. I need to veg out after a long day of work and turn my brain off. Usually, you’ll find Nick and I curled up on the couch with our two goldendoodles watching some Netflix.
Front Porch or Back Deck? Front Porch. I love rocking chairs and even though we don’t get to enjoy our little front porch often, it’s just so old fashion how can you not love them?!
FRIENDS character you’re most like: We’ll I can tell you I’m definitely not Phoebe. I would say Rachel, just because I’m not as anal as Monica (and I don’t love cooking), but I’m not as free spirited as Phoebe. I try to care about the things that matter and that I can control and let go of the things I can’t change or aren’t important.
App you can’t live without (besides Instagram): Any.Do. I’m 100% type A and need my to-do lists that I can cross off. This app actually lets you cross off, perfection!
